The MECSPE 2022 trade show, the largest in Italy dedicated to the manufacturing industry, featured the participation of the University of Udine startup EMC Gems, established in March 2021 and led by Prof. Ruben Specogna.
EMC Gems Srl's customers include multinational microelectronics companies such as Renesas Electronics of Silicon Valley, Infineon and Melexis.
The company, associated with Confindustria Udine, specializes in virtual prototyping and consulting for research and development of electromagnetic devices such as sensors, wireless power transfer systems, electromagnetic induction heating systems, electric motors, transformers, etc.
Compared with traditional prototyping, virtual prototyping does not require a physical product and therefore has a reduced cost and extreme speed of implementation that reduces time-to-market.
The startup targets companies in the automotive, industrial and manufacturing sectors with electromagnetic simulation software that is up to 1,000 times faster than those on the market.
Its speed and ability to be customized enables automatic product design and optimization.
Digital twins models point to the virtualization of production processes and predictive maintenance of machinery, thus lowering production downtime due to failures or frequent component changes.
EMC also deals with electromagnetic field measurements for industrial and environmental electromagnetic compatibility, with the possibility of shielding design to mitigate excess electromagnetic field.
Alongside these established activities, it plans to develop products for the biomedical and nautical sectors, as well as a scientific development project dedicated to schools and children.
