IPSMagic is a physics-based software platform that generates, optimizes and validates PCB (printed circuit boards) inductive position sensors — taking a design from first specification to production-ready in days instead of months. 

Built on a proprietary electromagnetic solver that runs orders of magnitude faster than general-purpose FEM tools, it turns design and validation cycles that traditionally take weeks into same-day engineering work, making full design-space exploration practical rather than aspirational.

Chip-independent by design

Most sensor design flows are tied to a single semiconductor vendor's toolchain: design with their tool, and you are committed to their chip. IPSMagic is different. Its output is independent of the front-end chip, so your sensing architecture stays yours.

You are free to source the best component, switch vendors, or carry the same validated design across product generations. Sourcing flexibility becomes an engineering decision, not a constraint inherited from a design tool — a decisive advantage over the free design flows offered by chip manufacturers.

  • Generate optimized designs

    Start from an extensive, continuously growing library of templates for transmitter coils, receiver coils and targets — covering rotary, linear, arc and torque sensors, each available in high-resolution, redundant and redundant high-resolution variants. A proprietary, patented algorithm optimizes receiver coil shapes to minimize linearity error, which is fundamental expecially in linear and arc sensors where manual design is impractical.

  • Validate in the real installation

    Test every relevant mechanical misalignment systematically, with results collected automatically into a structured engineering report. Validate the sensor in its true installation environment — including fixed external conductors such as brackets, shafts, housings and shields, whose influence on accuracy is otherwise discovered only at physical testing, when redesign is most expensive.

  • Cut manufacturing cost automatically

    Where layout space allows, IPSMagic automatically converts a design to through-via manufacturing, eliminating blind vias — one of the dominant cost drivers in sensor PCB fabrication. On real designs priced against public PCB quotes, this cuts board cost by 65–70% at production volume, and by up to ~90% at smaller batches — the same advantage across both rotary and linear sensors. The conversion is automatic and preserves the electromagnetic performance of the design.

  • Release with confidence

    An integrated design rule check (DRC) verifies every generated board against manufacturing rules before release, removing a full review cycle between design and fabrication. Export automated misalignment and performance reports in DOC and PDF, and raw simulation data in Excel and CSV for independent analysis.

    IPSMagic is available as a subscription in two profiles: Validation, for teams that design in-house and want fast, independent, physics-based validation of their own designs; and Pro, for teams that use the platform to generate, optimize and validate designs end to end, with the full generative engine and through-via conversion.
